So most of you do not know that I have a L O V E of classical music. Orchestral to be exact. Live performances are my ideal eargasm. I caught the tail end of one 60 Minutes segment of a virtuoso named Gustavo Dudamel. In the segment he was instructing his musicians to make love to their audience with their music. His intensity and emotional ferocity in guiding master musicians can only be compared to Merlin making magic or Einstein with a piece of chalk unraveling the mysteries of the universe.
The sounds I heard come from strings wood and metal combined made my heart swell. WELL this morning I found out what the hullaballooooooo was about this maistro and why 60 minutes featured almost an entire show on him. In September of 2009 he is to take the helm of the Los Angeles Philharmonic!!! Woot! Sigh. This 28 year old is so amazing. I have yet to experience such a range of emotion. Lets just say I can't wait!
Sigh, perhaps this will be the cultural revival Los Angeles so despirately needs. Fresh blood entering the system may just bring new life to this great city. I for one certainly hope so.
Until then, I'll be keeping up on this young mans work. And when the time comes, I'll be there somewhere, undoubtedly in a dark corner, enjoying my eargasm. Click on this posts title for a sample of his work with the LA Phil. squeeeeek
