New Family

A year and a half ago at DomCon LA I was introduced to LEATHER. Not the kind you swing, and not even (well mostly) the kind you wear. It's a lifestyle, its a state of mind. It was at that convention that I met a pair of men whom changed my life forever for the better. Until that time I was a leatherist who just didnt know it. I didn't like the ways and views of the majority of the feishists I knew. There, the velcro collar seemed to reign supreme. Personally, I am bound by more than some leather and a lock, and have always expected the same from members of any family I belonged to.

In my then narrow closed (read unexposed) mind, I didnt know there COULD be straight leather folk. To Mistress Cyan I am forever in debt for the unconditional support she offers to this community and the exposure she offers to any one who is open to accepting of what she has made available to those who seek it out.

For years I have been seeking a place where I could share with others what I know, what I have to teach. The problem for me had been though, finding an audience who would use the knowledge wisely. I had begun to feel burned by some of the community I was a part of. There are of course exceptions to this statement, however, my own family had been broken apart by egos outgrowing skill as well as their positions a couple of times and I had become quite unwilling to reopen that wound again. At least waiting until I found a better place to share that knowledge.

It has been said that you reap what you sow. Just like sowing a field is often wrought with hard work, planting is not the end of that journey to a healthy snack. One must weed the field and defend the vulnerable seedlings from attack by insects and fungal attack. Its hard work seed to table. I have found a new home, one of my own making, one where I feel people will take the knowledge I have to share or we learn together and use it well. They will use it in a sane, healthy manner passing on my heritage, our heritage the knowledge that was passed on to me from individuals I love(d) and respect(ed).

This weekend I opened my heart and home to two new members. I feel deeply honored that they both accepted my offer. Kadaver O'Keefe and Brandon Fett are the newest member of the Tramel household.

Kadaver has proved herself over the course of the last 6 months as a very good kitty and playmate. I only hope her formal training will go as smoothly as her public play and performance has gone.

Brandon Fett, wound his way around my heart this weekend in many ways. He's a good boy with lots to learn and a good and kind heart that is full of love to share with the world. His openness to Kadaver's and my lifestyle was seemingly unconditional and his willingness to just pitch in wherever he was needed this weekend made me very proud. He has A LOT to learn however, I think he will take to the life and lifestyle lessons we can offer him with a completely open heart and mind.

I thank those of you who gave your time and kink to these two amazing souls this weekend as I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. Chal thank you for keeping them busy when they didn't have anything else to do. Conversely, thank you for not biting my head off when I needed to steal one of them back from time to time.

To Willie, JR, Justin, Victoria, Sabrae, Rox, Liliane, Randy and Rick...(and anyone else I am not meaning to forget!) your companionship, friendship and energy made this weekend OH so fun!!!!! This was sincerely the best weekend I have had in AGES I would say in the top three easily.

The only thing that might have made this weekend any better would have been my girl allie there with the family. Hopefully I will get my hands on her soon. Then truly all will be right in my world.
